Sa première partie présente un état des pratiques des architectes selon diverses sources bibliographiques capables d’objectiver le travail de la conception. Cela permet de dégager ensuite la notion particulière « d’opérations de conception » pour appréhender le métier d’architecte puis de montrer comment l’identification de telles opérations permet d’organiser et de décliner les savoirs, savoir-faire et savoir-être à enseigner. Mais la méthode ne serait complète que si elle est comprise et partagée, donc discutée et remise en perspective, ce qu’illustre, dans une dernière partie du texte, l’enquête conduite par les étudiants auprès des douze enseignements de projet en première année de licence à l’ENSA Paris-La Villette. The article presents the prerequisites, references, detours and steps of first year architectural and urban design teaching in France. Its first part presents a state of the practices of the architects according to various bibliographical sources able to objectify the conception work. This hallows to identify the particular notion of “design operations” in order to grasp the architectural profession and then to show how the identification of such operations makes it possible to organize and decline the knowledge, know-how and relational skills to teach.
